Since the fall of Kabul, Afghanistan in August 2021, over 86,000 Afghan refugees have been temporarily paroled into the United States. As these families face challenges trying to rebuild their lives, immigration attorney Spojmie Nasiri has worked tirelessly to advocate on behalf of Afghan refugees and to assist with their relocation and resettlement.
Earlier this month, Spojmie traveled to Washington, D.C. for a series of events to expand her support of Afghan refugees.

While in our nation's capital, Spojmie joined veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and the Afghan Allies Fire Watch to advocate for the passage of the Afghan Adjustment Act.
The Afghan Adjustment Act (AAA) is a bill that is currently being considered in Congress. If passed, the Afghan Adjustment Act would give Afghan refugees certainty about their future in the United States. The AAA would allow families to resettle into their new communities, secure gainful employment, receive healthcare, and avoid deportation. The AAA would fulfill the U.S. Government's moral obligation to protect Afghan allies who have fought side-by-side with the U.S. Armed Forces over the last 20 years.
Attorney Nasiri's trip to D.C. also included a panel discussion for Islamic Relief USA about Afghan refugees resettling in the United States. Spojmie discussed the legal challenges that these newcomers face, and shared ways to help them navigate the U.S. legal immigration system.

Islamic Relief USA is a prominent charity that provides disaster and emergency relief, aid to refugees, education, and other humanitarian services for people around the world, regardless of gender, race, or religion.
Over the last year, Spojmie has participated in roundtable discussions with Congressional Representatives, U.S. State Department Officials, leaders of refugee organizations, and many other important associations. She is honored to have had the opportunity to extend her advocacy for Afghan refugees in our nation's capital.
